Thank you for joining the Mark Langley Horsemanship Membership.
I’m looking forward to helping you make meaningful progress with your horse and supporting you throughout your horsemanship training.
Over the coming weeks, you’ll receive a series of emails from me to help guide you through the Membership and point you towards videos on specific topics. If you don’t receive them, please check your junk mail folder or get in touch with our team.
Whether you’re looking to overcome a specific challenge with your horse or simply want to develop a deeper understanding of training and horse psychology, I recommend starting with the resources below. They will give you valuable insight into the philosophy that guides every training decision I make.
One of the most important first steps is learning to understand your horse. Every horse has areas where they feel troubled, uncertain, anxious, or disconnected. Identifying those areas will help you determine the most beneficial place to begin.
Take some time to explore the videos and consider what your horse needs most right now.
Here’s some advice on where to begin:
The Challenge Series is designed to walk you through implementing my training approach from the very first interaction with your horse. It is suitable for horses of all ages, breeds, and experience levels.
The demonstration videos provide an excellent overview of how I train, how I use pressure, and, most importantly, how I help horses learn and gain understanding.
Here’s a good one
Perhaps you have an educated horse that won’t stand still for mounting, is difficult to catch, or struggles in certain situations.
If you identify areas where your horse needs further education, the Young Horse Handling videos provide a great foundation. While your horse may not be young, many horses benefit from revisiting foundational lessons that improve understanding, confidence, and softness.
Throughout the Membership, you’ll see videos categorised around different horse types and tendencies, such as anxious, hot-headed, shut-down, scared, or sensitive horses. These categories help direct you to relevant content, although you’ll soon discover that many lessons apply across a wide range of horses and situations.
If you’re facing a particular issue—such as brace, separation anxiety, lack of confidence, difficulty searching for answers, or other training challenges—use the Video Library to focus on those areas.
A few tips:
The Leading section contains some of the most important foundation lessons in the Membership.
These videos provide insights into building communication, understanding, confidence, and respect. Many common problems can be improved significantly through better foundational leading skills.
There is a lot to learn here, and it is time very well spent.
The Effective Training Series is designed to help you better understand horse psychology, timing, feel, and communication.
I also recommend exploring the Rope Handling Skills section, including how to effectively use a flag as a training aid.
The Foal Series and Young Horse Starting Series provide a detailed breakdown of my early education process.
These lessons contain valuable insights into teaching feel, softness, confidence, and understanding—concepts that apply to horses at any stage of training.
As your horse progresses, you may also enjoy exploring the Long Reining and Liberty sections.
Once you’ve established a solid foundation of confidence, trust, understanding, and responsiveness to rein and leg aids, you can begin exploring the Body Control and Reinsmanship sections.
These lessons help refine communication and develop greater softness, balance, and precision.
Visit the Explanations section, where you’ll find detailed descriptions of many of the concepts, phrases, and training principles used throughout the Membership.
One of the greatest advantages of being a Member is the opportunity to receive direct support.
